Colossians 1:3-4

Colossians 1

3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,
4 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God's people—

The next two verses of Colossians are filled with all kinds of information on how we as Christians should be living.  Let's dive right into a closer look at Colossians 1: 3 & 4.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

1. We always thank God for you. This really hit home for me, I do not take the time to thank God for the people in my life everyday.  God has put them in my life for a reason and I should tell him often how thankful I am.

When was the last time you thanked God for fellow believers in your life?

2.  Every good and perfect gift comes from above (James 1:17).  He is worthy of our thanks.  Everyday God deserves our thankful praise.

Take a few minutes today and thank God for who he is and who he has brought into your life.

Good Gossip

1.  Verse 4 Paul is referring to good gossip.  Word has spread of this church's faithfulness. Rumors about how strong their faith is, what good rumors to go around. We choose everyday what we speak of, we should be spreading the good news of Christ and encouraging others.

Is there a good 'rumor' you need to spreading?

2.  Not only does this church have faithfulness, but a love for all saints.  More good gossip!  I am guilty of not loving all saints.  Everyone has positives and something to contribute to the body of Christ.  We should focus on what God sees, and practice loving them.

Is there someone you need to love?

Come back next week for verses 5 & 6.
