Homemade Pizza Recipe

Cheese, pepperoni, and tomato sauce; there's not much I like better than homemade pizza.
First things first.  The dough, it is super easy to make and is hard to mess up!

Whole Wheat Pizza Dough:

In microwave save glass heat:
1 Cup water (110 F) - about 90 seconds
stir in:
1 TBS active dry yeast
2 tsp sugar
let the above mixture sit until it foams (about 5 minutes)

In a bowl mix:
2 1/2 Cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
Make a well in the middle and add:
1-2 TBS olive oil

Then pour the yeast and water in the well.  Slowly mix in the flour with a fork.  Once the dough forms start kneading.  I use a kitchen aid with a dough hook for 10 minutes. When the dough is firm cover in olive oil and place in a bowl covering it with a damp towel.  Let it sit for 1 hour to allow the size double.

This recipe will make 2 9x13 crusts.  I roll half the dough out on plastic wrap (so it won't stick to the counter) and then use the wrap to transfer it to a baking sheet with corn meal sprinkled on it.

Once the dough is on the baking sheets it's time for the toppings.  We love lots of toppings, here is what my family uses.  (Note that quantities are for both pizzas.)

24 oz Pizza Sauce
8 oz Pepperoni
4 cups raw spinach
12 oz black olives
3 cups bell peppers (red, yellow or green)
1 cup onion
8 cups cheese

Bake for 15-20 minutes at 350 F.
