Wise Women

Proverbs 14:1
1  The wisest of women builds her house,
but folly with her own hands tears it down.

I've been reading through Proverbs and found this verse.  It has been on my brain for days.  When I read it, it struck me; that as women we have so much power over our lives.  We are not victims of our circumstances.  We can choose to build or tear down.

In our hands we have the power to build or destroy our homes.  We choose everyday to edify or tear down.  It might not always seem like a choice, but it is.

Dale Carnegie said, "If you act enthusiastic, you will be enthusiastic."  That makes the choice easy, if you act loving, you will be loving.  We are to become like Christ, we are to act like him.  Some of it will we will not 'feel' like doing but if we model our behavior after him we will in turn have our hearts changed.

Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

A wise women will choose to have the fruit of the Spirit in her home.  She will build up her family.  A foolish woman will tear apart her family, with her thoughts, words and actions.

  1. I've never really studied this scripture before - very enlightening to be sure. God is so good to teach us.

  2. You are so right that we as women can tear down our homes. As you said, even with our thoughts. What we think spills out into our actions in time.

Thank you for linking up with me at WholeHearted Home Wednesdays. I look forward to seeing you there again this coming week. It has been sweet getting to know you, Leslie :-)

  3. This verse surprised me. I'm so glad you all took the time to read it. As Christian wives we can build up our homes. This verse has become scribed on my heart and I have been thinking about it when speaking to my family. I can choose build them up!
