Day 7: Dishwasher Soap

Today's homemade item I have a love-hate relationship with.  I love that it gets my dishes clean, I hate that I have to put away the clean dishes.  :)

Recipe for Dishwasher Soap:
8 oz Critic Acid (sugar free lemon aid mix)
1 cup Borax
1 cup Washing Soda
1/2 cup Kosher Salt (for hard water)
1 Tbs dry rice

I have really hard water, so I have to put salt in the recipe.  If you have soft water you can forgo the salt.  To keep this from clumping I do add some rice.

Use 1 Tbs of the mixture in your dishwasher and run a normal cycle.

*Note: I think this cleans better when I add it to the bottom of the dishwasher.  If you put it in the soap compartment don't close the lid.

**Note: If you have mostly plastic in your dish load you might want to use regural dishsoap.  For some reason I tend to get white chalk build up on my plastic if there is too much in the dishwasher.
